Meet the Owner

LaToya Lawrence, LCPC

I am an experienced mental health professional with over 12 years of counseling, mentoring, and leadership in diverse settings. I am dedicated to supporting clients in achieving their mental, emotional, and behavioral well-being. I hold certifications as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, General Administration Certificate, and Illinois School Counselor Certification. 

My professional roles include Crisis Worker, Team Lead for a First Episode Program, School Counselor and Assistant Principal.

I utilize a variety of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution Focused approaches to help my clients discover new ways of coping.  I believe with the proper tools, support and knowledge everyone can make strides in their journey to improve their life and well-being.  My goal is to create a safe and comfortable space for clients to feel heard, open to sharing and feel empowered to reach their therapeutic goals.

Types of Counseling

Individual Therapy

We provide one-on-one counseling sessions tailored to address a perons's unique concerns, challenges, and goals. Individual therapy can help people explore their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in a safe and supportive environment, and work towards personal growth and healing.

 

Group Therapy

We facilitate group therapy sessions specifically designed for people, where participants can connect with others facing similar issues, share experiences, and provide mutual support. Group therapy can be particularly beneficial for people dealing with issues such as trauma, relationship difficulties, or self-esteem concerns.

Couples Therapy

We offer couples therapy to help individuals and their partners address relationship conflicts, improve communication skills, and strengthen their bond. Couples therapy can provide a supportive space for couples to explore their relationship dynamics, resolve conflicts, and work towards a healthier and more fulfilling partnership.

Family Therapy

We provide family therapy services to help individuals and their family members navigate interpersonal conflicts, improve family communication, and address underlying issues impacting family dynamics. Family therapy can be beneficial for people dealing with family-related stressors, such as parenting challenges or caregiving responsibilities.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

We incorporate mindfulness-based techniques and practices into therapy sessions to help people develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation skills, and resilience. Mindfulness-based therapy can help people reduce stress, manage anxiety and depression, and cultivate a greater sense of presence and well-being in their lives.

Therapy provides a safe space to explore emotions, gain insights, and develop coping strategies to navigate life’s challenges.

  • The goal of our first appointment is to get to know each other and share information. This appointment may be longer than your other appointments in order to allow time for you to complete the new client packet. You want to make sure that the counseling relationship is a good fit for you so be sure to “interview” your counselor. During this time your counselor will be asking you questions to get to know more about you and what brought you to LD Counseling.

  • Appointments are scheduled based on the individual need of the client. Your counselor will discuss this during your first session.
